Strick Trailers is proud to recognize Cale Shields, Welding Supervisor, who has been honored as the 2024-2025 Section Educator of the Year by the American Welding Society. Cale has been with Strick since 2012 and has long been dedicated to advancing the welding trade. About seven years ago, he joined the Bellmont High School Career Academy Advisory Board with the goal of getting young people interested in skilled trades. What began as small Friday welding sessions at Strick soon expanded into teaching opportunities at Anthis Career Center. For Cale, the work is deeply rewarding. He shares, “I wanted to give these young kids the same thing that someone once gave me—an opportunity to learn something that would serve them for the rest of their lives.” Over the years, many of his former students have stayed in touch, with several going on to work at Strick. His commitment has not only strengthened the company’s talent pipeline but has also positively impacted countless young people entering the trades. Strick Trailers is fortunate to have Cale as a leader, mentor, and advocate for the next generation of welders, and we congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.

Strick Trailers has been selected as this year’s Governor’s Workplace Safety Award for Rising Star. This award highlights an organization that has positively impacted employee safety and health or demonstrated proactive measures to improve workplace safety and health culture. Since the award’s introduction in 2016, only 20 companies across the state have received this prestigious recognition. The Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards recognize companies that prioritize safety and health while eliminating workplace injuries and illnesses. Winners are selected from all of Indiana’s industries and business sectors within the state’s 92-county radius. Steve Burns, President of Strick Trailers, shared, “This award re-confirms our commitment to safety and our team members’ outstanding effort to exceed the first paragraph of our mission statement — To Promote a Safe and Fulfilling Work Environment Where Team Members Can Thrive.” Chris Burt, Strick Trailer’s Safety Coordinator, added, “At Strick, production and management team members regularly interact to identify areas for improvement and prevent hazards from occurring. Together, we lead by example and build trust through our actions.” The Governor of Indiana, Mike Braun, presented the Strick team with the Governor’s Workplace Safety Award for Rising Star on February 26, 2025.
